You’re the one everyone counts on.

You’re the problem-solver, the caretaker, the one who holds it all together. But inside, you feel drained, unseen, and maybe even unsure of who you are beneath all the roles you fill.

The way you’ve learned to navigate life—over-giving, people-pleasing, staying busy—helped you survive. But now, those patterns may be keeping you from the deeper connection and peace you truly crave.

My name is Debbie Granovsky, LCSW, the recovery therapist in Alpharetta. I have 30 years of experience specializing in helping adults with dysfunctional backgrounds, trauma and addictions (drugs, alcohol, food, shopping, social media, etc.)

Typical clients report struggling with depression, anxiety, fear, grief, loss, and relationship problems. I offer help with parenting, caretaking, people pleasing, or perfectionism. My work is rooted in Internal Family Systems (IFS), trauma-informed care, inner child work, and deep self-compassion, guiding you toward healing that embraces all parts of you.

I consider myself to be a spiritual counselor, (not necessarily religious), who appreciates diversity and serves African American clients, People of Color, and is LGBQT+ affirming.

My "Fluff to Tuff" Approach

Therapy with me is a balance of warmth and honesty.

 Recovery Therapist in Alpharetta, GA
Therapist in 12-step recovery

Fluff Phase:

We begin by building trust. This is the part of you that needs reassurance, validation, and a soft place to land.

Tuff Phase:

When you're ready, we’ll gently but directly explore the patterns keeping you stuck so you can move forward with clarity and confidence.

I keep my caseload small—just 8 clients a week—so I can be fully present with you. Healing isn’t about being a number on a schedule. You deserve focused, personalized care. I have an immediate opening for one new client.

The Patterns We Carry

“My biggest fear is becoming my mother (or father).”

“My family puts the ‘dys’ in dysfunctional.”

“I feel like I have to take care of everyone—but who’s taking care of me?”

The hardest step is reaching out—but you don’t have to do this alone.

Let’s work together to create lasting change.

About Me

I understand how exhausting it is to feel like you’re carrying everything for everyone else while wondering, but who’s holding me?

Healing isn’t about fixing yourself—it’s about learning to welcome all of who you are.

For those of us who grew up in chaotic homes, we learned to adapt in ways that made sense at the time. Maybe you became the peacekeeper, the perfectionist, or the one who never asked for help. I know what that’s like—because I’ve lived it too.

I’m not a distant expert who hasn’t struggled. I’ve been through it, and I know the struggle is real. I won’t judge you—I’m one of you. I also have personal experience dealing with the trauma of family dysfunction and addiction. Because of this, I can share experience, strength and hope to guide your recovery process.

After graduating from Emory University in 1993, I got my Master's in Social Work (MSW) from the University of Georgia in 1996, and continued my education and training, including having experience providing therapy for almost 30 years.

Let’s explore what healing can look like for you.

I have an immediate opening for one new client.
